The Comprehensive Plan, Bloomington 2050, sets the City’s 20-year vision through a set of goals, strategies, and actions that guide future growth and change in the City. It is a once-in-a-decade effort that will guide how the city grows, connects, and thrives. 


Bloomington 2050 will outline the vision and priorities for future land use management, transportation investments, housing policy, community infrastructure and park investments, as well as climate adaptation and mitigation strategies. 

Staff launched this process in May 2026 with our kickoff event at Bryant Park and will continue community engagement through 2026 and 2027.


Upcoming Engagement for Bloomington 2050

City staff will be out in the community as part of our Community Launch and start of our Phase I Engagement. In addition to these events, please share your feedback through the Bloomington 2050 Community Survey below.

There are a variety of engagement opportunities throughout 2026 and 2027 including community dialogues, online surveys, pop-ups at City events and more!

  • Bloomington 2050 Community Survey (Perceptions, Values, Aspirations, and Experiences)

    This survey is an opportunity for community members to share their perceptions, values, aspirations, and experiences of Bloomington. It is one element of Phase I Engagement for the 2050 Comprehensive Plan Update, Bloomington 2050. This survey will help city staff and elected officials understand the most important issues and opportunities for the City to consider over the next 20 years.

    This survey will close on Thursday, August 20th June 25th.
