Bloomington 2050 – The Vision for Bloomington’s Future

Bloomington 2050, sets the City’s 20-year vision through a set of goals, strategies, and actions that guide future growth and change in the City. It also outlines the vision and priorities for future land use management, transportation investments, housing policy, community infrastructure and park investments, as well as climate adaptation and mitigation strategies.
Community Engagement for Bloomington 2050
Phase I of our engagement is about exploring emerging ideas and trends, current conditions, and existing policies. Staff are interacting with the public on their perceptions, values, aspirations, and experiences in their daily lives. After the completion of our Phase I engagement in September, a summary report of findings and themes will be provided to the public. Below is brief summary of engagement completed so far:
- Launched our project website (blm.mn/2050) and this Let's Talk Page for all engagement information related to Bloomington 2050
- Launched our Phase I Engagement Survey in English and Spanish (see below) - open until August 20th!
- Pop-ups at the Early Childhood Expo, Bloomington Home Fair, Petals of Peace, Bloomington Pride, and the Bloomington Juneteenth Celebration - 487 unique interactions with community members!
- Community Launch Event at Bryant Park and a Virtual Launch Event - 38 unique interactions!
- Launched our six-word story postcards (see below) to capture phrases, ideas, and stories about Bloomington - 437 cards collected so far!

- Youth-led engagement at Bloomington Public Schools with Youth Engagement Planning (YEP!)

Staff launched this process in May 2026 with our kickoff event at Bryant Park and will continue community engagement throughout 2026 and 2027. These will include online surveys, community dialogues, and pop-ups at City events.
