Park bench overlook at a riverPlanning for Bloomington’s Climate Future

Bloomington is building a more sustainable future by taking action where it matters most: protecting the environment while improving quality of life for residents. We are developing a Climate Action Plan (CAP). The plan will unify the City's climate work into a single coordinated framework, establish a ten-year implementation roadmap, and set a path toward carbon neutrality by 2050.

Building on previous work

Our work will be informed by climate-related plans and studies from the past 5 years including the Active Transportation Plan (2023), the EV Infrastructure Plan (2024), Transportation Greenhouse Emissions Analysis and report (2024), and the Urban Forest Master Plan (2026).

A Climate Plan created with the community

Public engagement is an important part of this plan. The Climate Action Plan is being developed with the Community. We want to understand your concerns, hopes, needs, and vision for Bloomington’s Climate future.
