Bloomington voters approved amendment to City Charter that adopts Ranked Choice Voting (Mayor & City Council Elections)
April 2021
City Council adopted an ordinance to determine how many candidates a voter can rank (Mayor and City Council Elections)
The Council is expected to discuss a preliminary draft of the ordinance at their meeting on Monday, March 1 and conduct a formal public hearing on the ordinance at their meeting on Monday, March 22. The meeting was continued to April 26.

Candidate Filing Period
With the adoption of Ranked Choice Voting, Bloomington will no longer conduct a primary election for municipal races (i.e. in the odd numbered years). All candidates who file for municipal office will appear on the General Election ballot in November.
