The City of Bloomington is working to better understand what it's like to get around town by bike. Just like drivers need convenient places to park their cars, people on bikes need safe, easy-to-use bike racks at their destinations.
This project will map where bike racks currently exist and what kind of racks are being used. That information will help us see whether our current bike parking meets the needs of the community, or if there are gaps we need to fix.
This is especially important now, as electric cargo bikes are becoming more affordable and popular. These bikes make it easier to carry kids, groceries, or other heavy items without a car. But they're also bigger and heavier than regular bikes- so they may need different kinds of parking options.
