The Zoning Code establishes what types of commercial vehicles and trailers can be parked or stored in residential zones. These standards have increasingly become the subject of enforcement cases. In addition, the size, height, design, and other characteristics of commercial vehicles and trailers continue to change over time. The project will evaluate these standards to determine if any changes are needed to be more consistent with commonly used types of commercial vehicles of a reasonable size.
The Why: Ensure that current standards are consistent with the types of commercial vehicles used or wanted to be used in residential areas. Increase opportunities to support small businesses in Bloomington who may need to store a work-related vehicle at their residence.
Input Opportunity: Staff are seeking resident input to help evaluate and update zoning standards related to the parking and storage of commercial vehicles in residential areas. Feedback will guide potential changes to ensure these standards balance neighborhood character with the needs of small businesses and residents who use work-related vehicles. Complete the survey below to provide input (deadline: July 31).
