Why we collect food scraps

As a daycare provider one of the most important things we can do is lead by example. We have a 4th grader who has encouraged us to do more by having a compost can on our kitchen counter. Our goal for the summer is to refuse food waste and to be mindful in only using what we need in regards to paper products.

I just loaned out my small compost bin to a neighbor, along with a green compost bag, so that they can try it out. My neighbor is then going to place the compost bag in my large container for pick-up. I even told this neighbor to take advantage of this opportunity to clean out her refrigerator.
