I am going to pay more attention to the bottom/back of the freezer when I am meal planning. I'm going to take a look at it before making my shopping list! There's a lot in there that I can use before getting more food.

I am committed to helping people compost

I just loaned out my small compost bin to a neighbor, along with a green compost bag, so that they can try it out. My neighbor is then going to place the compost bag in my large container for pick-up. I even told this neighbor to take advantage of this opportunity to clean out her refrigerator. I am going to offer this idea for anyone who is undecided about composting, or has a spouse who is against it, or just hasn't gotten around to trying it, or doesn't believe it to be easy to do. I also take my container... Continue reading

    Why we collect food scraps

    by Jane, 6 months ago
As a daycare provider one of the most important things we can do is lead by example. We have a 4th grader who has encouraged us to do more by having a compost can on our kitchen counter. Our goal for the summer is to refuse food waste and to be mindful in only using what we need in regards to paper products.

Be intentional in cooking. Only put food or amount of food in your plate that you will eat, less is best and you can always get more if needed than wasting food.

    Organics recycling goal - office

Add place in home office to collect recycling and organics instead of just garbage. Will do better to recycling soda cans, napkins, tissues, etc.

    Clothing Swaps!

    by M.Mork, 6 months ago
While not exactly relating to organic composting, I recently hosted and attended a number of clothing swaps to help reduce waste, be more cost effective, and reuse what others don't need anymore. :)

I will add a container in the bathroom to collect organics. It didn't cross my mind to collect organics in the bathroom.
