Sign Ordinance and Murals Update
Consultation has concluded
The City of Bloomington has updated the City’s sign code for the following reasons:
- Ensure compliance with current legal precedents and requirements pertaining to commercial signage.
- Improve the structure, clarity, and predictability of the ordinance.
- Reduce the complexity and redundancy of the ordinance.
Public hearings to consider the adoption of the new sign code were held at the Planning Commission on February 1, 2024 and City Council on February 26, 2024. The City Council adopted the new sign code at the 2/26/2024 meeting. The adopted version of the sign ordinance can be downloaded in the documents tab on the right. If there are any questions about the new signage standards, you can contact the Planning Division at (952) 563-8920.
The City has also been working to revise existing standards pertaining to the installation of murals.
