On September 18th, 2023, the Bloomington City Council approved changing the speed limit for local/neighborhood streets to 25 MPH. Staff are proposing speed limit changes for larger city streets next.

The proposed changes are informed by the context of existing roadways, feedback already received from the Neighborhood Transportation Management Plan (NTMP) engagement, past and recent studies regarding effective speed limits, and engineering judgement.

The Proposed Speed Limits map provides a look at which streets are included in this project. (click image to enlarge). The map was revised 2/2024 to include 82nd Street (Lyndale to Portland and 12th Ave to Old Cedar) to 30MPH.

The Frequently Asked Questions section on the right (FAQ's) provides answers to many questions and identify limitations on county and state roads.
