Sustainable Bulky Item Disposal Plan

Since less items accepted & every other year event, i sure hope the costs go down. The year there is no pickup there should be no charge. Or allow people to opt in & pay for it like lawn recycling. Only pay if you use

I would like to keep the annual curb side clean up. It’s an event I look forward to and love that I can interact with people who may want to reuse what I’m getting rid of

My preference would be to have a regular monthly collection of reusable and recyclable bulky items pickup. However, not if this will incur an increase to my bill. If so keep it as it stands.

I would like to see the bulk pick-up in September not April

A lot of people do NOT have access to haul large bulky items. It would be nice to have both options. I'm sure some people would be able to drop items off.

Let's keep Bloomington a clean and junk free. Please keep this program.

Please discontinue the whole service. I live on 110th street just before it turns into Bush Lake Road. The buisnesses close by draw people from other communities. I hear people driving by in the middle of the night dumping trash. Its not a main drag where people worry about being seen. We often get broken glass and other sharp objects in our grass, large appliances (stoves, refridges, TV's), construction waist, etc.... I feel it isnt safe to walk my dog for weeks after this event. Please discontinue the service, I will take care of my own cleanup and resent paying for others to abuse my area. Thank you

Annual or Bi-Annual curbside pickup is desirable. Drive-by scrappers often find useful items that can be re-used, not disposed of. This reduces landfill disposal.

I really like the program. In our neighborhood, it's awesome to watch the people in vehicles come through and load them up with stuff we don't want, but get what they can use, or maybe even fix and sell. We both are winners!!! We get rid of stuff and they get something they want or need.

I would say leave it as it is, this has been a outstanding program that other cities should be doing. This just feels like you are looking for a problem to fix when there is none to start with.

The more we can reuse and repurpose, the better for everyone. Thanks for listening to all these constructive ideas. Just ignore the cranky, unhelpful comments.

Give us back our rights! We as taxpaying citizens of Bloomington should have the right to select our own garbage collection company. If you want to restrict us to 4 or 5 companies to choose from we would still be able to make our own deals with our garbage company. Since the socialist society of Bloomington has ripped us of our rights, my garbage collection bill has gone up and I can't even dispose of as much as I used to.
Now you are trying to rid us of a simple and convenient way to dispose of large items, which used to be FREE to us, but now you are charging us monthly for... NO DO NOT CHANGE ANYTHING! Keep our curbside cleanup as is!
Any body reading this PLEASE remember to VOTE OUT ANY INCUMBENTS! Let's take back our city!

*The regular monthly collection is citizens' curbside bins?
*The annual drop-off event for bulky recyclable items (as well as the monthly bulky recyclable items) takes the place of citizens using the Henn. Co. recycling site?
*The cost of the above two services will be included in the utilities bill/an increase of how much?
*The cost will be a logical substitute for the fee charged for those items at the Henn. Co. site?

I might also add that the city could help promote initiatives such as Buy Nothing groups on Facebook where residents can share usable items with neighbors who could use them. That is already happening to a lot of "trash" on curbside clean up days anyway ... many items are getting picked up from curbs and moved to another house.

Is an appliance that isn't working but would work if repaired repaired considered reusable? Also, lots of people don't know what bulky items are/aren't recyclable. Without a list, you'll get a lot of residents who won't use the monthly collections correctly.

Unfortunately we will not be able to attend the scheduled listening session, but after reviewing the proposed changes we feel they are a good compromise from the prior plan and would like the City Council to support the proposal. Thank you for being open and responding to the citizens.
